Located in the heart of Drogheda's busy high street, kitty corner to the tourist office in the old Thostel, Traders Coffee House is small but mighty, and everything from the coffee to the crisps has been thoughtfully sourced.
The coffee is from Ariosa Coffee Roasting Co. in nearby County Meath, where master roaster Michael Kelly blends and roasts the coffee for Traders.
The tea is the organic Solaris Tea range, blended in County Galway. The sandwiches aren't your usual ham and cheese – here, it's Jack McCarthy's free-range dry-cured ham with Glebe Brethan, Hegarty cheddar or Gubbeen cheese, which you can wash down with a bottle of the local Stagrennan Farm apple juice.
There are plenty of sweet treats too, such as brownies, muffins, caramel slice, almond slice, lemon tart, ginger cake or rhubarb custard tart, made in Dublin and Drogheda, as well as Pandora Bell lollipops or & Aine Hand Made Chocolates.
Grab one of the window seats at the counter to watch the world go by over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake or hunker down at a table in the back with one of the free newspapers and a sandwich.
And if you've got a green thumb, don't forget to pick up one of the free paper bags of used coffee grounds placed in a basket outside the front door for gardeners to mix into their compost.
The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, the music is mellow and indie, the staff are young and hip, and the coffee and food are artisan, Irish and excellent. Traders Coffee House ticks all the boxes.
