All too often the growers of beautiful vegetables and fruit get little recognition in Ireland, but the observant diner eating out around East Cork could hardly fail to notice that many of the flavoursome vegetables - and, especially, the ‘Ballycotton potatoes’ that give so much pleasure are produced by Willie Scannell.
A good traditional low chemical grower, he produces both early and main crop potatoes along with carrots, swedes and white turnips, summer cabbage, lettuce and parsley.
