Founded in 1995, Mac’s Armagh Cider is the focal point of the Armagh ‘revivalist’ cider movement. Only traditional cider techniques are used – no dyes, no preservatives. Local fruit is crushed, fermented, racked, matured, blended and bottled. A very light level of carbonation is used and the ciders are pasteurised.
Mac’s produces three ciders: Mac’s Dry Cider, a traditional high-tannin cider with no concession to sweetness (the black coffee equivalent of cider); Mac’s Sweet Cider, which has sugar added and reduced tannin levels to cater for a modern taste; and Mac’s Lyte, a gentle, sweet, refreshing cider.
