Well known for their fusion dishes and a favourite destination for Sunday Brunch with the family, the café at the Glucksman Gallery has earned a following.

It may take a bit of finding on a first visit but the effort will be rewarded. Fresco means fresh and this unusual café is well-named, reflecting the chef’s respect for fresh, local ingredients - while menus also mirror a love of fusion food.

The interior has an industrial look but it’s given warmth by the natural light that floods in through huge floor to ceiling windows, which are opened up in summer.

The brunch menu that brings so many people here is a joyful mix of dishes, with something to please everyone, whether fish lover, carnivore or vegetarian. Curry for brunch – no problem. Omelettes alongside it – that's grand. Requests for changes are no problem at all, and may even be offered by the helpful waiter while taking your drinks order if you can't decide what to choose.

The chef, Kash, is from Sri Lanka and menus aim to cater for the multicultural student population at UCC, and do this very successfully. Everything is fresh, appealingly presented - most dishes have an Asian flair with presentation that brings a smile to people’s faces - and it’s great value too.

Fresco is a cool place to eat and clearly enjoyed for its simple but delicious food, by students and visitors alike - especially when sitting outside on fine summer evenings.
