A small but stylish and cosy space, Dominik’s is popular with locals thanks to chef and proprietor Jan Gablech’s finely judged cooking.
The menu is fairly extensive, with a good range of starters and desserts and an even wider selection of mains that cover all the bases with chicken, duck, beef, pork, lamb, fish and vegetarian options.
The menu sticks with tried and tested flavours and combinations, such as a grilled duck breast with sweet potatoes and an orange sauce or pan-fried sea bass with a white wine sauce and pea purée, but is none the worse for that. This is good, solid cooking – simple and delicious.
The à la carte may seem a bit on the pricey side, but the keenly priced early bird and Sunday lunch set menus are excellent value. The children’s menu is also attractively priced at around €7.50 for a starter of soup or garlic bread, a proper main and jelly and ice cream for dessert.
A surprisingly extensive wine list is helpfully organised by style (such as light, clean, crisp and refreshing or medium and rich with lovely fruits with a hint of spice), with most bottles falling in the €25 to €30 range, and with many wines available by the glass too. Alternatively, you can bring your own wine on designated days (Sun and Mon-Wed).
With its stylish ambience, prompt and friendly service and tasty, well-presented food, Dominik’s has become a favourite in the established Mullingar dining scene and viistors will be very pleased to find it.
