Opened by Niall McKenna of James Street South in June 2015 and a first for the Titanic Quarter, Cast and Crew is all urban funk and industrial chic - just the setting for brilliant street-style food.
Bare tables, tin can utensil holder, black milk jug ...all the details underline the theme. Grey paint makes it quite dark inside and It’s on the small side, but it is immaculately clean with very comfortable chairs and good music (not too loud). Unisex toilets may not please everyone, but there's wheelchair access and baby changing facilities.
Situated right under the shadow of Belfast’s famous Harland & Wolff cranes, Samson and Goliath, and with the equally iconic Titanic Visitor Centre is just across the road, the name Cast and Crew is a clever play on the nearby Visitor Centre and Belfast's Paintball Film Studios. Belfast MET College and the Science Centre are also nearby, so there’s plenty of hustle and bustle in the area.
Offering quality all day dining seven days a week, Cast and Crew serves hearty and healthy breakfasts, salads, burgers, hot dogs and sides. Although short, the menu is varied and well constructed, with nothing costing more than £12.50 and most dishes around £8-9. Expect choices like delicious, appealingly presented Grilled Portobello Mushroom with poached egg on sourdough and hollandaise for breakfast, followed by an array of salads, burgers and hot dogs for lunch. One or two traditional favourites too - seafood chowder, Irish Stew - and maybe even lobster for early dinner...
The USPs are superb ingredients (not much detail on provenance, but the quality is top notch), great cooking with plenty of eye appeal - and terrific service from smartly uniformed staff, who know their menu and the most popular options.
There's no garden, but an attractive decking area is appealing in fine weather and has plenty of seating.
Cast and Crew is perfectly pitched for the Titanic Quarter, offering smart modern food and great value. It's fully licensed and everything can be ordered to take away, or delivered.
