A former Church of Ireland rectory, it has the benefit of being in the Malone conservation area and retains many original features, including stained glass windows.

There’s a lovely drawing room with books, sofas, comfortable armchairs with cosy rugs over the arms - and a very hospitable habit of serving hot whiskey in the drawing room at 9 o’clock each night.

Accommodation is on two storeys, every room is individually decorated (and named) and each has both a desk and a sofa, magazines to browse, also beverage trays with hot chocolate and soup sachets as well as the usual tea and coffee.

Better still there’s a fridge on each landing with iced water and fresh milk on hand for guests to help themselves.

Great pride is taken in providing a good breakfast with an emphasis on using organic produce where possible. An excellent start to the day, it is served at linen covered tables and offers freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh and dried fruit.

The famous Ulster fry, porridge with cream, honey and Irish Mist liqueur (optional), shredded duck confit and Croque Monsieur are just some of the hot choices. Vegetarians are well catered for with options that include crepes, omelettes and soda Croque Madame.

Supper offers light bites such as homemade soup, smoked salmon and chicken liver pate, with beef or vegetarian chilli a hot choice, and helpful advice on eating out locally is given if required.
