2 euro Has Good Hotel Guide Url Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality. Highly Recommended as a Special Place to Stay

This old house in the centre of Kinsale town has provided excellent accommodation for many years and the current owners, Philip and Noreen McEvoy have kept up this tradition well since taking over the property in 1995.

Bed and breakfast is offered in the original bedrooms, which have character - stripped pine country furniture and antique beds which have been refurbished - and the McEvoys have also added three self-catering suites, each with two en-suite bedrooms, sitting room, kitchenette and an extra bathroom. The newer rooms are well-proportioned and furnished in the same style and to the same high standard; they can be taken on a nightly basis (minimum stay 2 nights), sleeping up to six adults.

The top suite has an additional lounge area leading from a spiral staircase, with magnificent views over the town and harbour.

There's a comfortable sitting room with an open fire for guests' use and, when the weather allows, a lovely patio offers an alternative place to relax - and perhaps to enjoy Philip's extensive breakfast menu on a fine summer morning; all based on locally sourced, organic and free range produce wherever possible, it reflects the McEvoys' pride in local food and their eco-friendly policy.
