Having been closed for some four years, the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire re-opened to some acclaim in 2007 - the original Victorian building has been restored to its former glory, and The Dun Laoghaire Historical Society are very happy with all the refurbishments.
New buildings on each side house conference facilities on the right, and very comfortable accommodation on the left.
About a third (82) of the bedrooms are in the original building, the rest in the new area; all are air conditioned, spacious and comfortable, with double quilted mattress and flat screen tv among the features.
Many of the rooms have wonderful views over the harbour and Dublin Bay, the 52 executive suites have balconies and there are family rooms available (connecting doors).
Now styled as a conference, destination and leisure spa, it boasts some welcome new facilities, combining well with the traditional warmth and friendliness that has always been present in this landmark hotel.
The hotel has a restaurant, The Dune and two bars - the bright and airy Pavilion at the front and the Hardy, with a good cocktail menu, at the back.
The hotel's sansanaSpa offers 9 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy bath and a hammam.
