Ardmore Country House

Set back from the road in its own lovely gardens, Christina Byrne’s stone-built Victorian house offers old-fashioned comforts: brass beds, turf fires and home-made bread and preserves for breakfast
Rooms 5 (4 en-suite, 3 shower only, 1 with private bathroom, 1 family room, 1 ground floor, 1 for disabled, all no smoking); B&B about €40-45 pps, ss €10. Children welcome (25% discount for u12s sharing parents' room; under 2s free in parents' room, cot available at no charge, baby sitting arranged); pets allowed in certain areas (stay in bedroom); kennels. Drying room. Secure lockup for bikes & motor bikes. Closed 23-27 Dec. MasterCard, Visa abbreviations

Set back from the road in its own lovely gardens, Christina Byrne’s stone-built Victorian house offers old-fashioned comforts: brass beds, turf fires and home-made bread and preserves for breakfast.


Bedrooms are deliberately left without amenities, in order to make a visit to Ardmore a real country house experience and encourage guests to spend less time in their rooms and mix with each other - tea is available downstairs at any time.


All bedrooms are decorated to a high standard - one with jacuzzi bath - and a ground floor room is wheelchair friendly.


Christina runs 1-7 day guided walking breaks in this beautiful and unspoilt area, with dinner in local restaurants, including Kinnitty Castle and Leap Castle - Ireland’s most haunted castle (walking brochure available on request).


She also plays the fiddle and guests can go along with her to the pub when there’s a session on, to enjoy traditional music and meet the locals.
