A cousin of sisters Peaches and Domini Kemp's highly regarded Dublin operation The Restaurant at Brown Thomas, Table is a stylish daytime restaurant on the second floor of Brown Thomas Cork, the chicest store in town.
Smart modern décor contrasting with a neo-classical background makes an appropriate setting for sassy food with a basic respect for tradition: the Kemps are renowned for their commitment to quality and meals here are based on local and organic products as much as possible, also Fair Trade tea and coffee.
Breakfast, lunch and early supper menus are offered, with snacks (oatmeal & raisin cookies, chocolate brownies, freshly baked scones or any of their gorgeous desserts) in between, and special diets are catered for with dishes suitable for vegetarian, gluten-free, low fat and low salt diets all of which may sound a bit 'worthy', but it's not like that at all.
Fresh, colourful and tasty, this is classic Kemp fare and their fans will find many familiar dishes, including steak sandwiches and great salads - mixed leaves with Ardsallagh goat's cheese, perhaps, along with candied nuts, roasted red peppers and balsamic dressing.
This Cork restaurants got a junior menu too, offering things like home-made burger with hand-cut fries or penne with cream and roast cherry tomatoes, and lovely pressed juices or fresh orange juice to go with it and, of course, adults can choose from a nice little wine list, including a quartet of bubblies.
