Wynns Hotel

Recently refurbished, this historic Dublin hotel provides all the modern comforts at a keen price with a lovely, traditional welcome
Rooms 65 (1 suite, 1 junior suite, 6 executive, 4 family, 2 single, 1 disabled). B&B €49.50-74.50 pps; ss €20. Children welcome (under 7s free in parents room). 24 hr room service; lift. Free broadband wi/fi. Fitness room. Complimentary valet parking. Closed 25 Dec. MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations

Traditionally a country people's hotel in Dublin city centre, this affordable, three-star hotel is just off O'Connell Street, with the Luas stopping just outside its door.

There's a friendly welcome at reception, and they are accommodating, easily taking things like an early check-in in their stride. Rooms have recently been refurbished and are very comfortable for the price, with spotless bathrooms.

The revamped dining room is bright and airy, with attentive staff and good, sensible food, which is also good value - and the bar also serves good coffee, and plates of food if you wish.

While you may have to queue for breakfast if you come later, it's worth the wait, with very efficient service, good tea - and lovely eggs Benedict, and properly grilled rashers.

The clientele is likely to be a mixture of continental families, Parish Priests up from the country, sisters on a shopping spree, elderly aunts and young ones on their first date.

Visitors are surprised to find a place like this. No glitz, just a very comfortable stay - the perfect hideaway, without breaking the bank. This Dublin hotels weekend and midweek breaks offer especially good value.
