Antons is a popular, family-run Galway café, a five minute walk from Jurys Inn over the bridge. It's a simple place, a long room with local artists' paintings and a lot of wood - floors, tables, chairs and benches - mugs and unmatching ware.

It has been feeding a loyal lunch time trade for many years, so it's just the kind of place visitors need to know about. The menu is pretty constant - soup (tomato and basil with brown bread and butter) sandwiches (made with home-made foccacia and served with mixed leaves and tomato - chicken, spinach and walnut is typical); salads (eg smoked duck and raspberry vinaigrette).

Particularly recommended for home baking, consistently good salads and desserts (Raspberry and almond tart, Italian chocolate cake) in an unfussy atmosphere.

Great coffees, teas, infusions and freshly squeezed juice too.
