2 euro Has Good Hotel Guide Url Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality. Highly Recommended as a Special Place to Stay

Situated just outside Kenmare on the Ring of Kerry Road (take the turn off for Sneem), Una and Dermot Brennan's smart boutique hotel is sleek and modern, offering all the flair and comfort of a custom-built hotel but with the service and intimacy of the very best kind of B&B.

The stylish and very comfortable bedrooms are decorated in soothing warm neutrals in a clean and contemporary style. Business guests will find plenty of workspace and broadband access, and everyone will appreciate the emphasis on service, which includes a turndown service (lights on, background music) to make your room welcoming when you go to bed.

Good food has always been important to the Brennans, who are avid supporters of the excellent produce available locally - and Dermot even raises his own free range Saddleback pigs, which you will find on the menus here and at their popular town centre restaurant No. 35 (see entry.)

With long opening hours (from noon daily), Casey’s Bar and Restaurant is an ideal place to drop into for a tasty bite in stylish surroundings at any time. A blackboard gives details of local suppliers – and there are many, including black pudding from Sneem, lamb and beef from Jerry Hurley and fish from Castletownbere. Their delicious chowder is chock-a-block with fish, including mussels, and properly contains chunks of both potato and carrot. Other light lunches may be grilled aubergine or perhaps the BLT with smoked bacon.  Dinner choices include Dermot’s rare breed pork belly duo confit cabbage and hazelnuts, cider glaze and pork jus, or Irish rump fillet steak with colcannon champ, confit mushroom and spinach with red wine jus.

Kenmare has numerous lovely walks to suit all levels of fitness, both in the town and in the local countryside - ask about the Brook Lane Hotel's local walking guide, compiled especially for their visitors.

Special packages are offered, including golf, cycling and fishing breaks but, as Brook Lane offers comfort, excellent service, and great value for money, booking well in advance is strongly advised.

*Brook Lane Hotel is a lovely wedding venue, and has also become known for traditional Irish music, details on application.
