Golf is one of the major attractions at the O'Hara family's lively family-run country inn, both on-site and in the locality, but it’s a pleasant and hospitable place for anyone to stay.

Golfers and non-golfers alike will soon find friends in the convivial bar, where food is served from noon to 10 pm every day - and outside in a pleasant barbecue area too, in fine weather.

Accommodation is not luxurious, but it is accessible and quite comfortable. Arranged around the main courtyard, the good-sized if somewhat dated en-suite rooms are all on the ground floor and they have plenty of space for golfing gear.

Newer cottage suites overlooking the golf course (just 100 yards from the main building) offer a higher standard of acommodation and were the first four star rated self catering to be completed in Northern Ireland; the cottage suites can be booked individually, in the same way as hotel rooms

As well as daily bar food, there’s an evening restaurant on some days. Accessed up a steep staircase (with chair lift for the less able), it overlooks the garden end of the golf course and also makes a pleasant breakfast room. Fresh local ingredients feature in daytime food (soups, freshly made sandwiches and open sandwiches, baked potatoes, pasta) and evening meals like hot garlic Aghadowey mushrooms or ribeye steak with a Bushmills whiskey sauce.

The French Rooms

Bushmills, Co. Antrim

Café / Restaurant / Restaurant with Rooms
1 euro Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Opened in 2013 by experienced host Roy Bolton (originally of the Bushnmills Inn), this little slice of rural France is easy to miss from the street, as it looks like a shop (which it also is) but, once inside, it's unique. The shop - which sells French kitchen items, mo ...
