One of Eileen Bergin's small chain of classy convenience foodstores, with its flagship store in Mount Merrion Avenue Blackrock, Co Dublin since 1987.
The Greystones branch is now one of ten stores in the greater Dublin area and, since 2007, the kitchens have been in in Bray, Co Wicklow, where executive head chef Niall Hill researches and develops new products as well as overseeing production.
Although the scale has grown so significantly since Eileen first started out cooking and selling everything herself, the ethos remains the same ("Hand made delicious recipes from our kitchen to yours"). The philosophy of using fresh local and free-from ingredients produces great-tasting foods - and is the secret of their success.
Although best known for their quality ready meals and other fresh food for retail, party food and catering for weddings and other events is offered too, also hampers, vouchers and other gifts including Eileen Bergin's book, Recipes for all Seasons - The Butler's Pantry Cookbook (€24.95, from all of the shops).
Niall Hill's cookery demonstrations are worth looking out for - usually held at the Miele Gallery in Dublin, details on the website.
