Mary and Maurice Harnett’s beautiful early Victorian house is just on the edge of Killarney town and yet, tucked away on its 68-acre walled estate, it is an oasis of peace and tranquillity.

The house has been extensively restored and has many interesting features, including an original conservatory built around a 170 year-old specimen camellia - when camellias were first introduced to Europe, they were mistakenly thought to be tender plants; it is now quite remarkable to see this large tree growing under glass.

It is an impressive yet relaxed house, with well-proportioned, spacious reception rooms stylishly furnished and comfortable for guests, with newspapers, books, fresh flowers - and open fires in inclement weather - while the six beautiful big bedrooms have scenic views over gardens, parkland and mountains.

Gazing out from this peaceful place, it is easy to forget that the hustle and bustle of Killarney town is just a few minutes’ drive away; it could just as well be in another world.

Mary and Maurice enjoy sharing their local knowledge with guests to help them get the most of their stay at what they quite reasonably call ‘perhaps the most exclusive accommodation available in Killarney’.
