The Front Door

Downstairs has all the intimacy of an inner city pub with cosy nooks and crannies for pint drinkers and casual dining. Upstairs is a young persons’ hang-out with late night disco, big TV screens and tables for dining.
Seats 90. L & D daily, 12-5 & 5-9pm. Value D 5-9pm Mon-Fri €12.95. House wine from €18.95. Children welcome. Closed 25 Dec. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Like its sister establishment, The Dail Bar, The Front Door is located in the middle of Galway’s city-centre Latin Quarter.

The Front Door claims to be Galway’s premier night spot. It is certainly one of the biggest, boasting five bars and dining areas on two floors.

Downstairs has all the intimacy of an inner city pub with cosy nooks and crannies for pint drinkers and casual dining. Upstairs is a young persons’ hang-out with late night disco, big TV screens and tables for dining.

There is an olde worlde feel to the place with imaginative use of bare wood, large mirrors and an impressive staircase.

The food is good, middle-of-the-road: soups, sandwiches, steaks, burgers, daily fish and vegetarian dishes at reasonable prices, served by interested young staff.

For such a large, busy establishment, maintenance and housekeeping are of a high standard with carefully supervised toilets.
