1 euro Denotes genuine Irish food culture, ie special Irish food products/companies/producers, and highlights the best places to shop for regional and artisan foods; the selection excludes obvious 'non-Irish' elements regardless of quality, eg ethnic restaurants and specialists in coffee, wine and other drinks, unless relevant to local production or history. Eat & Stay establishments are chosen for their commitment to showcasing local produce and Irish hospitality.

Green 19

Tasty home style cooking at fair prices make this bright and buzzy restaurant a real crowd pleaser
Seats 50 (private room, 18; outdoors, 10), free broadband wi/fi; children welcome (baby changing facilities); fully wheelchair accessible; air conditioning. Open daily L & D 12-4pm & 5-11pm (to 10pm Sun). House wine €16. SC 10% on groups 6+. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

Like most good ideas, the central concept at Green 19 is a simple one: offer well-sourced ingredients rendered into appealing dishes and delivered well by kitchen and floorstaff alike – and sold at very appealing prices.

This Dublin restaurants menu consists of the kind of food many of us could rustle up at home ourselves, were we so inclined to do, and is flexible enough to cover both lunch (with sandwiches featuring the likes of house-smoked pastrami) and dinner (mains are a uniform €10 each and include burgers, stews and fish and chips).

Stick to a simple main course (organic beefburger with rustic skinny chips, perhaps, or chickpea and winter veg stew with smoked paprika and cumin) and glass of wine or beer and you could be fed and watered for less than €20. There are lots of extras to tempt too though, making it an attractive choice for a gang to kick off a night on the town.

Starters could include the likes of Cashel Blue cheese salad with Fermanagh black pudding, or platters of cured meats or pinchos to share, and desserts are smart takes on nostalgic classics.

The cocktails are imaginative and confidently carried through, and include appetite sharpening pre-dinner choices as well as several that could happily stand in for dessert in their own right.

The street level dining room is bright and buzzy, while tucked away upstairs adjoining the mezzanine dining area is a choice little smoking terrace overlooking Camden Street.
