Called after Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe (there is a family link with the former Rhodesia), this comfortable and charmingly old-world restaurant is always welcoming and has a cosy stove burning on chilly days.
Specials chalked on a blackboard and tempting home-bakes piled up on the counter will entice first time visitors in - but many are regulars, as wholesome food and a relaxed atmosphere has made this surprisingly named restaurant a favourite destination in the area.
Known for consistently reliable cooking offered all year - 'quality food at affordable prices' is the mantra and it's for real - the menu is eclectic, with many popular international dishes offered, but the ingredients are local,with Irish meats and poultry getting special mention. It's an exceptionally family friendly place too, with baby changing facilities, a dedicated children's menu, and a colouring competition to keep little fingers busy, all contributing to a relaxed meal for parents.
Kariba's is deservedly popular for quality and good value - and nothing is too much trouble for the efficient and friendly staff.
