This well known shop was established in 1982 by Kate Pettit and Frank Hopper and is now run by local girl Kate O'Hara who, with her younger sisters Beth and Jane, has taken on the challenge of sourcing and selling a wide range of the finest foods available.
Along with fine wines and European specialities, Irish artisan producers are extremely well represented, including many from the immediate area such as Bluebell Organic Farm eggs and vegetarian quiches, Noodle House pasta from nearby at Curry, baked goods (including excellent breads as well as treats for the sweet-toothed) from several regular local bakers and also Declan Ryan's Arbutus Breads in Cork - and local butcher Keith Clarke supplies his own Knocknarea honey.
Speciality meats come from around Ireland - Coopershill Venison from nearby Riverstown, Brady Family's whole hams from Co Kildare, O'Doherty's black bacon from Enniskillen and Gubbeen smoked fish and salami from West Cork, for example - and you'll find Murphy's of Dingle and Tickety Moo ice creams here too.
They also offer a small selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and hotpots as well as homemade dinners for takeaway.
