This large hotel on the Dublin side of Mullingar contributes quality accommodation and welcome facilities to Mullingar town - and (providing you can find the entrance, which is not easy due to confusing signage) it makes a convenient journey break when travelling across the country.
Although not especially appealing from the road, it is a spacious and friendly place - and has an unexpectedly pleasant outlook at the back, where the bar and conference areas open on to a large and sheltered courtyard style ‘garden’ with neatly kept lawns and paths, well away from the road.
The Terrace Restaurant offers more than the usual hotel fare, and attracts diners from the town and beyond; the highly regarded chef Michael Rath offers appealing and attractively priced contemporary à la carte menus, including unusually strong vegetarian choices.
