Very close Lough Gur and the Ballyhoura Mountains (popular for cycling and walking breaks) Bruff is a lovely village within easy driving distances of a lot of interesting places and Miriam Sadlier Barry's unusual and very hospitable B&B would make a great base for exploring the area.
Formerly a bank, it's a fine nineteenth century building with an impressive facade - and it's been well converted to make a substantial B&B, offering a high standard of accommodation. Some of the comfortably furnished en-suite rooms are suitable for families, others have four-poster beds and maybe a jacuzzi bath, and all have TV, tea/coffee facilities and clothes pressing facilities.
But it's the family's friendliness and hospitality that brings people back - everyone loves the welcome cuppa served on arrival, the home baking, the cooked to order breakfasts and the sense of being in a family home.
No evening meals, but guests are directed to The Old Bake House Restaurant or Clancy's pub nearby.
