There’s an air of care about Justina Kocjan and Kamel Ourdache’s town centre restaurant. The interior is modern, in muted tones with tiled floors and plain dark furniture and they offer varying menus throughout the day, always with Kamel’s cooking bringing a little Mediterranean sunshine to Irish ingredients.
The couple have built a local reputation for good value and it is well earned, as they are dedicated to achieving high standards at reasonable prices all day from breakfast to dinner. Justina is a natural host, gracing front-of-house with much charm, and Kamel is a good chef, cooking with serious intent.
Daytime meals are quite casual and in the evening they offer a range of appealing pasta dishes and staples such as rack of lamb and duck breast, along with fish of the day. Their own in-house-filtered bottled water, still and sparkling, is available without restriction on quantity for €1 per table. Also, in addition to the wine list, Bring Your Own is an option at the very reasonable corkage charge of €5.
The long opening hours make this a very useful place to know about when visiting the Oranmore area and, if street parking should be a problem, there is free underground parking available for customers.
Children are very welcome - there’s a kids’ menu for only €5, prepared from fresh ingredients and including a drink - and takeaway is also available.
