Pupp

Dublin's first dog-friendly cafe, opened by Ella Wallace and Paul Froggatt opened in early 2016 - offering treats for pooches, and Nick's coffee and simple food for their owners too - but, within just six months of opening, Pupp expanded their seating capacity and their menu, started some evening pop ups ...
Seats about 25. Mon-Fri 10am-3.30pm, Sat-Sun, 10am-5pm. Dog boutique, online shop. Amex, MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

CLOSED as of 17th December 2017; follow up business to be announced

Dublin's first dog-friendly cafe opened on an edgy but trendy stretch of Dublin's Clanbrassil Street in early 2016.

There are very few places in the city that dog owners can bring their pets, so the arrival of Pupp was warmly welcomed.

The brainchild of Ella Wallace, Paul Froggatt and their dog, Toby, the modest little cafe quickly became popular for its relaxed atmosphere and the very good Nick's Coffee that they served, plus simple breakfast and lunch options.

At the weekend, there's brunch, with vegetarian and paleo-friendly choices.

Four-legged customers are catered for with a selection of dog treats and there are special chicken and beef-flavoured dog beers for under the table consumption. Wallace used to work at Google (Froggatt still does) and is now in the kitchen at Pupp fulfilling a long-held dream.

A few simple health and safety ground rules - pets must be kept on leads, be housetrained and not annoy other customers - to ensure harmony for all.

There is also a pet boutique, offering dog accessories and some dog-themed items for humans, available at the store and online.

* Within just six months of opening, Pupp expanded their seating capacity and their menu, started some evening pop ups - and then they established the Dog Friendly Association of Ireland (www.DFAI.ie), a community of businesses dedicated to making Ireland more dog-friendly.  "Together we hope to make Ireland more welcoming to our canine compatriots," explain Emma and Paul.
