The Fleet Inn

Tucked away on a side street near the harbour in Killybegs, owner-chef Colin Bradley specialises in the best of fresh fish at this deservedly popular pub and restaurant
Restaurant Thu-Mon 6pm-9pm. Bar food Mon-Sun 5pm-9pm. Live music every Sun. Free wifi. House wine €21, glass €5.60 Rooms 9 (all en suite), single, double, twin. abbreviations

One of the oldest – and most charming – buildings in Killybegs, the black-and-white painted Fleet Inn stands out from its surroundings and, with owner/chef Colin Bradley at the helm in the kitchen, visitors are sure to be impressed.

Well known for the freshness and variety of its fish, this pub and restaurant takes prides in serving only the best - and, with Killybegs harbour on the doorstep, the best of fresh fish is abundantly available to this excellent chef. The restaurant is bright and airy, with a wonderful beamed ceiling, polished floor and comfortable seating.

The bar is a real traditional Irish pub, with flagstoned flooring and a fireplace at one end for those cold evenings. As you would expect, the menu in both bar and restaurant features fish strongly and popular dishes like pan fried hake with beuerre blanc sauce sing with freshness and flavour.

Starters might include a steaming bowl of the house chowder, stuffed grilled Bruckless Bay mussels, or a delicious dish of monkfish and prawns cooked in garlic butter gratinated with cheddar and mozzarella cheeses.

Mains offer a wider choice, with honey roast Silver Hill duck, chicken roulade, and a 10-oz prime Hereford sirloin steak all popular. However, pride of place still goes to fish – with seabass, monkfish, cod and scallops among the likely choices, and all expertly prepared.

Desserts are all homemade, offering classic temptations like French apple flan, passionfruit crème brulee or a chocolate pudding with chocolate and orange sauce.

All in all, a great seafood destination in Killybegs.
