Bright and enticing, this super little neighbourhood restaurant near Limerick University is warm and buzzy and has a nice Italian feel to it and professional - and attentive service is a highlight

Bright and enticing, this super little neighbourhood restaurant near Limerick University is situated in a small shopping centre, with lots of free parking.

Inside, it’s warm and buzzy and has a nice Italian feel to it, with friendly hands-on owner Sabarina Amodeo very much in evidence and lots of wine bottles and olive oils on display (including the house salad dressing, Amodeo Dressing, which is sold is a number of outlets in the area).

In typically informal Italian fashion, there’s an emphasis on family-friendliness, offering a kids menu that includes mini-pizza, and the simple setting (polished wooden tables, paper napkins) effortlessly straddles the changing demands of a bustling daytime café and an evening restaurant that’s also appealing for a quiet dinner à deux.

Menus offer all the Italian favourites, including plenty of poultry choices and some fish dishes. Freshly prepared, tasty, versions of popular dishes are attractively presented and, while purists might question the inclusion of cream in the Spaghetti Carbonara, it will taste very good all the same.versions

Attention to detail is seen in a succulent dish of Taglietelli al Pollo, for example, which comes with some al dente broccoli mixed through it and a bowl of freshly shaved parmesan on the side – and, like all the pasta and pizza dishes, is available gluten-free. A lunchtime snack of Bruschetta Bianca, with pesto and mozzarella, is equally good.

Professional and attentive service is a highlight and a kindly-priced wine list offers 10 red and 10 white, from Italy, Spain, New Zealand, Chile and France from €19.00, or €5.50 by the glass.

A nice little spot, useful to know about and pocket-friendly too.
