Ballyconneely (Irish: Baile Conaola) is a small village 10km (6 miles) south of Clifden in the west of the Connemara region, County Galway.
It is not a village as such, as settlements are spread out north on the road to Clifden and south on the road to Roundstone. Every July, the Ballyconneely Pony Show attracts people from all around County Galway to exhibit livestock.
It is an ideal place from which to explore the many fine beaches, some with coral strands, situated along the nearby Ballyconneely and Mannion Bays. This is an area that is well suited to outdoor activities with walking, horse riding, fishing and golf at the fore. The challenging championship course at Ballyconneely is very highly regarded in the golfing world.
