This small village just inside the boundary of the Sperrins takes it name from the Irish ‘Na Fineadha’ which means ‘woody place.’
The village is located between Dungiven and Claudy, seven kilometres south west of Dungiven. The village itself includes a winding main street and a small handful of local shops.
A local historic place of interest is Drumcovitt House, which lies on the outskirts of the village. This four storey house was built over 300 years ago by the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers and is a visible reminder of the plantation of Ulster period.
Beautiful walks can be found at Banagher Glen National Nature Reserve (Warden 0044 28 77 763 982), which is located close to the village.
