Mallow (Mala, Magh Ealla, and other variations in Irish) is the "Crossroads of Munster" and the administrative capital of north County Cork. It was traditionally a prosperous market centre - but this has given way to business - and the largest town along the lovely Blackwater Valley, and a good centre from which to explore that river and many interesting locations in the neighbourhood. The town was known in days gone by as a spa town. There is horse racing at the nearby Cork Race Track at Mallow.
