Opened with aplomb in 2005, this large luxury hotel is set in the Laois countryside, just off the main Dublin-Cork road (M7).

In 2014 it was purchased by the current owner, the American software developer, Adrian Carmack, and is currently operated with style by one of Ireland's most highly respected  General Managers, Andrew Phelan. The adjacent golf complex was bought by a consortium of local and overseas investors in the same year, and is now run independently.

An impressive atrium sets the tone as you enter the hotel and, with a bifurcated staircase, crystal chandeliers and marbled floors, this lobby is designed to impress; other public areas are spacious and furnished in a similar style.

Generous accommodation is in sumptuously furnished suites and guest rooms, which are extremely comfortable - and have beautiful bathrooms with separate shower and bath - although, surprisingly, some rooms do not have a view.

But exceptional leisure facilities are the trump card at this hotel - as well as the adjacent golf complex, there is a health club & spa, tennis, a 5K ground lit walking and jogging track around the golf course

Fine dining is offered in The Arlington Restaurant (open 7 days), and food is served up to 9pm daily in The Slieve Bloom Bar. Afternoon Tea in The Lobby Lounge is also very popular (1pm and 3pm daily). Executive Chef Ian Clifford takes pride in showcasing the best of local and Irish produce, and the main suppliers are given due credit.

Nearby, an informal dining option is available at Soloriens Steakhouse & Italian Restaurant, at the golf resort.
