BuJo

Enjoy exceptional Irish beef burgers, created by Gráinne O’Keeffe, in this neighbourhood burger joint that beats with a sustainable and eco-friendly heart.
Seats about 50. Open Mon-Thu,12 noon-9.30pm, Fri & Sat 12-10pm, Sun 12-9pm. MasterCard, Visa. abbreviations

The menu is simple at BuJo with just a few options for burgers and fries. However, the devil is in the details, and it’s accurate to say that a lot of thought has been given to every aspect of this restaurant. All the beef used in the burgers is 100% grass-fed and sourced from Bord Bia Quality Assured Irish farmers. The glossy, sweetly soft burger buns come from Coghlan’s Bakery in Newbridge while the excellent bacon comes from Bogue’s rare breed Hampshire pigs in Ballyjamesduff.

The attention to detail is also present in BuJo’s firm commitment to sustainability. All packaging including the disposable plastic cups and cutlery is 100% compostable, the electricity used is 100% renewable and even the staff t-shirts are sourced from a humane and ethical manufacturer. Sustainability beats at the very heart of this venture.

But after all, it’s all about the burgers. Cooked over an open grill, the twin patty Irish beef burgers are superbly flavoursome and deliciously charred, and make sure to add the superb bacon for that final finishing touch. Round out the meal with crisp, triple-cooked fries or the crunchy panko-coated fried pickles.

For drinks, kids can enjoy one of the house speciality milkshakes while adults can choose a craft beer, cider or one of the wines available on tap.

And with the lovely Sandymount strand just a short distance away, it’s going to be all too tempting in the future to justify burger indulgence by talking a brisk seaside walk.

There's no phone and no email - you just rock up and make yourself comfortable. If there's a real downside, it's the lack of a menu online - but take our word for it, this is sustainable magic in Sandymount and you won't be disappointed.
