La Jolie Brise Pizza & Grill

This cheerful mainly outdoor spot is run by Youen Jacob Jnr, and known for generous, handmade-made pizzas and pastas, well-priced local seafood and timeless favourites like char-grilled sirloin steaks
Seats 40 (outdoors 40); children welcome (high chair, baby changing facilities); no reservations accepted. Open 8.30am-11pm daily; à la carte & special menus; house wine from €20.50. Closed 25 Dec. MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations

Just along from Bushe's Bar, La Jolie Brise Pizza & Grill is run by Youen Jacob Jnr, and is part of The Waterfront Hotel complex which neatly frames a corner of the square.

A cheerful continental-style café, it spills out on to the pavement and provides families and budget-conscious holiday-makers with good, inexpensive meals to be washed down with moderately priced wines.

Breakfast menus include a regular continental and full Irish breakfast and several fish choices, including hot smoked salmon, plus a range of drinks including hot chocolate and expresso.

Generous, handmade-made pizzas (also available to take away) and pastas are available and, for lunch and dinner, there's a good choice of well-priced local seafood including a half dozen Sherkin Island oysters (with brown bread & butter) and classic 'moules-frites' - and various timeless favourites like char-grilled sirloin steaks, or frilled fresh tuna, with salad & chips: all youthful, contemporary use of local ingredients.

The only downside to this great little place is that it can get very crowded in summer and it's hard to keep pristine.
