Indie Spice

A long and interesting menu offers diners a real taste of exotic India at this smart ethnic restaurant
Seats 130. Open for L&D Mon-Fri, 12-2.30pm and 5.30-11.30pm. Open all day Sat 12-11.30pm; Sun 1-11pm; set 2 course L €8.95 (12-2.30pm); set Sun L €19.95; value D €15.95, Mon-Thurs, 5.30-7pm; also à la carte L&D; house wine €18.95; SC 10% on groups 8+. Children welcome (high chair, children's menu, baby changing facilities); air conditioning; lift. Closed 25/26 Dec. Amex, MasterCard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations

Located above a pet shop, with a narrow door leading up steep stairs to the first floor dining room (lift available), arrival at Indie Spice may not seem promising - but, once you have walked past the open kitchen to your table, it quickly becomes obvious that the warm and stylish interior promises something a little special.

The room is large, with striking contemporary décor, but divided into smaller sections and with low lighting giving a sense of intimacy. Service at this county Dublin restaurants prompt and courteous, with poppadoms and dips brought to your table right away.

With a long and interesting menu, offering a wide variety of dishes in familiar styles (Tandoor, Biriyani etc), the chef's specialities are recommended, especially for first time visitors not familiar with the menu.

Recommended dishes include a well-flavoured starter of Salmon Gulnar, (fresh salmon rolled in ground herbs then baked with ginger and honey) and a main course of Moghlai Lamb with Sultana, a delicate yet richly flavoured dish with spices of cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, cardamom and cinnamon, served with excellent Peshwaree Naan and Pilau Rice.

This is a pleasing restaurant and, given the long opening hours, may be a useful place for travellers using the airport to know about.
