Fairhill House Hotel

Would make a very pleasant base for a break exploring this exceptionally beautiful area
Conferences/Banqueting (260/200); free broadband wi/fi. Rooms 20 (4 executive, 2 family, 6 single); B&B €55-65 pps, ss €20. Children welcome (under 3s free in parents room, cot available free of charge, baby sitting arranged). Limited room service; lift. Fishing (fly & coarse), equestrian, golf and walking all nearby. Closed 24-25 Dec. Mastercard, Visa, Laser. abbreviations

The pretty village of Clonbur lies between Lough Corrib and Lough Mask in Connemara, in a wonderfully scenic and restful area that attracts fisherfolk, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

In the centre of the village is the Lynch family’s friendly Victorian hotel; dating back to 1830, it has recently been sympathetically refurbished, bringing it up to the standards demanded by today’s travellers without spoiling its character.

Accommodation is simple, but very comfortable for a country hotel. The decor is gentle on the eye, most rooms have both single and double beds and all bathrooms have a full bath; many a swankier place pays less attention to these important basics.

The heart of the hotel is the cosy bar, also accessible directly from the road, which has an open fire, lots of memorabilia and a sense that a lot of good nights are enjoyed here - as indeed they are, as music and craic are a major part of the hotel's charm. You can have a very pleasant meal here, served by friendly staff - baked cod with new potatoes and salad, perhaps, or a tasty plate of beef stroganoff.

A large restaurant at the back of the hotel also doubles as a small function room for local events.

This would make a very pleasant base for a break exploring this exceptionally beautiful area.
