Originally the Curran family home, this popular and well-located establishment dates back to 1791 and, in recent times, has earned a reputation for fine food, under the guidance of Paula Mahon, (née Curran).

Today, it not only has a 60-seater restaurant, a comfortable bar and outdoor area to offer but the premises also holds a licence for civil weddings, with an outdoor arch used for the ceremony; receptions are held in the restaurant - which has a large fireplace as its centrepiece, with original family photographs and memorabilia.

Outside, there’s a covered, heated smoking area, a walled beer garden and barbecue area, and a play area for children - and the old milking parlour has been converted into The Stables Bar and function room.

Seafood has always played a central role here, of course, and menus - which are written in French and Spanish as well as English - offer a wide range including the ever-popular Seafood Platter (a splendid collection of clams, smoked mackerel, mussels, crabcakes, prawns, dressed crabs and langoustine, served with homemade wheaten bread) along with other delights such as Ardglass prawns, crab claws, poached salmon, Dundrum Bay mussels, and crayfish risotto.

Alternatively, there’s a daily roast dinner, prime sirloin or fillet from local butchers and homemade steakburger. Children are well catered for and the wine list, although short, is well chosen.
