The traditional fishing port of Ardglass was Ulster’s busiest port on the 15th Century and today is still one of three major fishing ports in Northern Ireland.
The town is a popular destination for sea anglers and other water based activities. A historic place of interest to visit is Jordan’s Castle, a well preserved four storey tower house which was built in the 15th century and withstood a siege in the 1600s.
Golfers will enjoy the Ardglass golf club (00 44 28 448 41219), perhaps one of the most scenic courses in the country, with the Mourne Mountains as a backdrop and a clubhouse that is in a converted historic 15th Century castle.
