James Mulchrone’s delightful bakery and café in Kenmare has been a great success since the day it opened in March 2001 and, unlikely as this may seem in a town that has some of the best eating places in Ireland, it brought something new and very welcome.
Affordable prices, friendly service and an in-house bakery have proved a winning combination; everything is made using the best of local produce and you can pop into the self-service café for a bite at any time all day.
Lovely main course choices may include salmon & spinach baked in pastry with horseradish, and there’s always a selection of quiches.
If you’re planning a day out, they have all you could want for a delicious picnic here, including a wide range of sandwiches and salads, terrines and all sorts of irresistible cakes, muffins, bars and biscuits.
The café menu changes daily and party platters and celebration cakes are made to order (48 hours notice required for special orders).
The stated aim is “to provide fresh, quality, imaginative food at affordable prices in nice surroundings”; this they are doing very well, both here and at their branches in Killarney, and Cork - bth of which are supplied by their Kenmare bakery.
Eat in or take away, Jam is a great spot to stock up on goodies.
