Great home baking and good cooking of simple daytime fare is the secret of the quiet success story that is Billy O'Flaherty and Jessie Kennedy's well-run little café and bakery.
Baking really is her forte and it's a lovely place to drop into mid morning or at afternoon tea time, to restore the energy levels with a comforting cuppa and a small indulgence from her range of homely treats - a flapjack, or a slice of zingy lemon cake or old fashioned coffee cake perhaps, or maybe something more indulgent on the chocolate theme as she makes a mean chocolate brownie...
But that's not to say the savoury foods are any less good - the day starts with an excellent breakfast, while lunchtime offers wholesome homemade soup, freshly made sandwiches, pizza and hot dishes of the day.
Everything is freshly made using the best of ingredients (many of them organic and/or local) and that's what brings people here to relax, together with The Coffee Shop's simplicity and a comfortable friendliness. And something nice to take home from the bakery too, of course.
