Mount Merrion, Co. Dublin

Mount Merrion (Cnoc Mhuirfean in Irish) is a predominantly middle-class suburb roughly 7km (5 miles) south of Dublin City centre, situated on and around the hill of the same name, which forms the first foothill of the Dublin Mountains. Mount Merrion is situated 3.5km (2 miles) southwest of Merrion itself.

Deer Park contains park lands that are open to the public and is made up of the areas behind the site of Mount Merrion House. The park contains both sporting facilities (Soccer and Gaelic football pitches and Mount Merrion Tennis Club) and landscaped land for more informal leisure pursuits. Its location and altitude also provide it with a great panoramic view of Dublin city. It is claimed that Strongbow's white stallion is buried somewhere in Deer Park.
