Fergus View

Mary Kelleher's neat farmhouse makes an hospitable and inexpensive base for exploring this fascinating area, and regular visitors will always notice the changes and improvements that she makes each winter.
Rooms 5 (4 en-suite, 1 shower only, 1 with private bathroom, all no-smoking); B&B €38 pps; ss €7. Children welcome (cot available, €10, baby sitting arranged); broadband wi/fi (no charge). No pets. Walking; garden. Golf, fishing (coarse & fly) and surfing nearby. Closed Nov - end Feb. No Credit Cards. abbreviations

Mary Kelleher's neat farmhouse enjoys a lovely view of the Clare countryside and was originally a teacher's residence (the theme is seen throughout). It now makes an hospitable and inexpensive base for exploring this fascinating area, and regular visitors will always notice changes and improvements that are made each winter.

Mary is a friendly host who obviously enjoys welcoming her guests and she takes great care to ensure that  they enjoy their visit to the full - there are detailed information packs in every room and specific directions given to the best places for walking.

Bedrooms are comfortable and thoughtfully furnished although a little on the small side, in order to include en-suite facilities. As well as a guest sitting room with an open fire and comfy chairs, there is a relaxing conservatory which opens on to the garden and has extensive views.

Breakfast is a treat and gives Mary an opportunity to showcase local foods and home-grown fruits, vegetables and herbs. Interesting menus include home-made yoghurt, freshly squeezed juice, home-made muesli, Anneliese Bartelink's excellent local Poulcoin cheeses and a wide range of teas, as well as cooked breakfasts with free range eggs.

There's also a pretty stone cottage next door, Tigh Eamon, which has been charmingly converted for self-catering accommodation.

*No evening meals, but Mary will direct you to the best local choices.
