Home from home to Ireland's politicians, this row of 18th century townhouses has been an hotel since 1921.

This Dublin hotels location would be hard to beat and it's reasonably priced for the area; it remains a slightly old-fashioned hotel of character and it's a haven for politicians at the Dail (parliament) across the road and there's a special buzz in the bar, where food is served throughout the day and evening.

Recent renovations made no fundamental changes and accommodation is comfortable in the traditional style, with the best rooms overlooking Kildare Street or Molesworth Street.

The hotel offers a good range of services for conferences, meetings and private dining, and has a positive environmental policy (recipient of Green Failte Award - bronze medal).

Trumans:

This elegant, well-appointed Dublin restaurant has a separate entrance from Kildare Street, or access from the hotel, and it offers a pleasing ambience and quite extensive menus featuring both modern and simpler dishes: fillets of seabass with a brunoise of steamed vegetables wrapped in bok choi, with new potatoes and salsa verde is a speciality.

A good wine list includes half a dozen house wines, a page of fine wines and a strong selection of half bottles.
