The Stone Cottage
4 * Rating by Irish Tourist Board
Situated in a rural location just five miles from the bustling town of Portumna, this delightful property has been rebuilt using the original stone from an old cottage and its outbuildings. The result is a fabulous modern cottage which is spacious and bright, while retaining its cosy and comfortable charm.
All of the rooms are tastefully furnished, with Persian rugs in the living room and all of the bedrooms. There is geothermal underfloor heating throughout the house.
There are three huge double bedrooms, all en-suite with big walk-in glass frameless showers. The master bedroom ensuite has a cast iron free-standing bath with a separate walk-in shower and double wash basins. Two of the bedrooms have additional pull out trundle beds.
There is a large kitchen/dining room equipped with top of the line appliances. Four steps lead up to a spacious living room with open fire and vaulted beamed ceiling. French doors open out to a conservatory/library with a second set of doors leading out to a patio at the foot of the garden.
The garden stretches back an acre, running into a further two acre field, sometimes occupied by horses or cows. There are three patios – one off of the conservatory/library (morning sun), one in the raised part of the courtyard area (afternoon sun) and one off a bedroom (late afternoon sun).
The cottage is surrounded by tranquil countryside, with the occasional sounds of cows being herded down the road or birds in the garden. Portumna is a five minute drive away, there you can find a supermarket, butcher, green grocer, chemist, bank, hardware store, restaurants and pubs.
Season/Weekly Rates:
High €1,150 (July, August)
Shoulder €1,100 (May, June, September)
Low €1,000 (rest of year)
