This is the last fish shop on the West Pier of Howth harbour, and many regulars make a beeline for it.
A family run concern with a long tradition in the fish business in Howth, it was founded by Nicky McLoughlin (recipient of the Irish Food Writers' Guild Lifetime Achievement Award 2010) and is now run by his son Martin.
The shop offers a wide range of fresh whitefish and shellfish and all smoked fish is processed on the premises in their smokery - one of the last of its kind. A very traditional process (involving some secret ingredients) ensures a unique product and Nicky's Plaice has many loyal customers, including local restaurants.
