Castle Murray House Hotel

Beautifully located overlooking the sea and the ruined castle from which it takes its name (and which is floodlit at night, making an atmospheric outlook from the restaurant), Martin and Marguerite Howley’s small hotel makes a superb wedding venues for a wedding of character and, if they are lucky, guests coming from afar will stay for a few days and absorb the magic of the area.

The emphasis is on relaxation, quiet hospitality and good food - although there is a good choice, seafood has always been the speciality here, especially in summer, and it is superbly fresh - and the accommodation offered is interesting, fairly-priced and very comfortable.

The boutique style bedrooms have all been recently upgraded and 9 of the 10 rooms have views of McSwynes Bay and McSwynes Castle, with the foothills of Sliabh Liag making a romantic backdrop. Accommodation is of high standard, with King Koil pillow top mattress, duck down goose feather duvets and pillows, designer fabrics  and flat screen tvs .Tea/coffee trays include complimentary homemade Castle Murray cookies, and you will find Argan Italian toiletries in the smart bathroms 

A wedding 'Show Around Package' for couples is now offered  at Castle Murray, beginning with a welcome drink and canapés in the lounge area which enjoys beautiful coastal views overlooking St. John’s Point. Early check in to one of the boutique style bedrooms, with views over McSwynes Bay. Dinner will then be the high point of a relaxing evening, offering a gastronomic experience that demonstrates the great care and attention to detail given by Remy and his team.

Next morning, following an excellent breakfast, a dedicated wedding co-ordinator meets couples for a private consultation and show around. This package costs €200 per couple but is refunded in full if the wedding is booked at the hotel.

There is a pretty church at Bruckless, 2km away, and civil marriages and garden blessings are also possible at the hotel. The many photo opportunities include St. John’s Point, offering a beach and a lighthouse, also the castle ruins in front of the hotel.
